Durham University History Society

About
Founded in 1926 as The Durham Colleges Historical Society, the society has a long history of providing a wide range of social and academic events for its membership, which has developed into one of the largest at the university. The society aims both to promote history to Durham University students and provide a medium through which history students and those interested in history can interact and socialise. To such ends, the society organises a broad range of activities, from themed socials to the annual ball and from academic talks to the annual conference.
The society also publishes its annual journal, recently re-vamped as Critical Historical Studies, which promotes and recognises original undergraduate historical research from students worldwide. It provides an opportunity not only for students to publish their work but to explore and develop their interest and skill in academic editing as a part of the editorial team.
